HARS & Wings Over Illawarra 2018

HARS was pleased to have been involved as a key participant in Wings Over Illawarra 2018.  The event was highly successful, and HARS take this opportunity to acknowledge and congratulate the efforts of the organisers, Bright Events Pty Ltd.

The event was a deserved success, with a great range of aircraft flying.

HARS took the decision this year not to include our aircraft in the flying display, choosing instead to make more aircraft available for public tours.  We believe this move was more beneficial to support our operations, as HARS relies entirely on donations and sponsors to support all of its aviation activities. Our WoI18 visitors provided valuable revenue to HARS in the form of donations from those who chose to inspect the aircraft. The public relations value derived from increased inspections of our heritage aviation collection also cannot be overstated.

Accordingly, HARS had 14 historic aircraft open for inspection, and the rest of its fleet available for close viewing across the full two days of the air show.

For those who are interested in seeing HARS aircraft fly, we have a monthly Tarmac Day sequence organized this coming weekend (Friday-Sunday 11th – 13th May).  There will be several HARS aircraft undertaking maintenance flying from the Albion Park airfield during this time.

Flying is always subject to aircraft serviceability, and If the weather is inclement the aircraft will be moved inside the Hangar so that they can be inspected more closely.
