Boeing 747-438 (VH-OJA) 10-Year Anniversary of Gifting Approaches

Boeing 747-438 (VH-OJA) 10-Year Anniversary of Gifting Approaches

On the morning of Sunday 8th March 2015 a beautiful example of the Queen of the Skies flew into the HARS Aviation Museum (HARS), located at Shellharbour Airport.

The aircraft is a Boeing 747-438 (VH-OJA) that was graciously gifted to the HARS Aviation Museum by Qantas.

VH-OJA was the first Boeing 747-400 acquired by Qantas, way back in 1989.

The 747-400 series was designed as a longer range aircraft, and Qantas famously demonstrated this longer range by delivering this aircraft via a non-stop flight from London (UK) to Sydney (Australia), arriving in Sydney on 17th August 1989.  The delivery flight covered 18,001 km, and was completed in 20 hours, 9 minutes and 5 seconds.

Saturday 8th March 2025 will be the 10th anniversary of her delivery to HARS, and we plan to celebrate the anniversary with gusto.  Watch this space to learn about plans for the anniversary celebrations.

In the meantime you can plan to visit our world-class aviation museum, and even participate in some special tours of the 747 (see https://hars.org.au/albion-park/tours/).
