Southern Cross Replica Wing Spars Progress

Here’s a report from the Southern Cross Replica team.

The Southern Cross team is pleased to report that after nearly two years in the making, the four six metre long re-manufactured laminated spruce wing spar booms have now been joined on to the original un-damaged sections of the wing spars. This represents a major step forward in the wing repair.

The next step is to box the booms in to form the front and rear main wing box spars. After that, once repaired, the wing ribs slide up the spars and so form the wing profile.

Ply skinning of the wing will follow.

Some time and a lot of work ahead still, but getting there. Watch this space for more news as it comes.
