At HARS, we have people from all walks of life. What sets us apart are the many retired and active Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, Professional Pilots and Cabin Crew who either have or still work for Qantas. We are dedicated to Australian aviation history, and our collection of flying, under restoration and static display aircraft is testament to that. "Not bad for a bunch of old people".

Describe what people can expect.

The best description is "TARDIS". I have lost count of the people I have shown around who are literally amazed at what they see. I guess our advertising needs to be more spectacular.

Is HARS a standard museum?

Absolutely NOT!!! When you visit, a tour guide will escort you and show you all that is here. At HARS, you will be walking through operational hangars, able to get up close and personal with our aeroplanes and even explore some of them.

Boeing 747 Tours During Airshow - Historical Aircraft Restoration Society

HARS Aviation Museum is pleased to offer special tours on our Boeing 747-400 during Airshows Downunder Shellharbour on 2nd and 3rd March 2024.

Starting at 0900, and every hour on the hour, you can spend 50 minutes in the cockpit of the 747 with a real former Qantas pilot, and learn what it means to fly the Queen of the Skies. Cost is $95/person, with up to 2 people at a time.

And for something completely different, and also starting at 0900, you can spend about 20 minutes on the starboard (right) wing of the 747 with one of our wonderful volunteer guides. Hear about significant structures and components of the aircraft. It’s also a great view of the airshow. Cost is $30/person, with up to 5 people at a time.
